Biking

The best way to explore St. Maarten for the adventurer at heart is by cruising the island by bike. St. Maarten offers routes throughout the island that showcase coastal views and grant access to the island’s natural reserve. For beginners, try biking from Cay Hill to Mullet Bay. Be sure to bring a bathing suit to cool off at Mullet Bay Beach. Kids will have a great time biking along the Boardwalk in Philipsburg. For more established bikers, biking the Bellevue Trail to Marigot will be a breeze. The hardest trail on the island is mountain biking to Pic Paradis and it is recommended to go with a guide.

If you’re a seasoned cyclist, the island hosts biking competitions throughout the year in which travelers can participate. Or simply sit back and watch from the sidelines. Need a bike? Many local shops offer biking rentals for fair prices that include both safety and repair gear. They also provide tours and maps of established biking routes around the island including both easy loops and trails with hard inclines.

Travelers may know of other Caribbean escapes, but no other vacation spot offers these iconic adventures that can only be found in SXM.
