If you’re ready to make the trip, we can help! From entry requirements to getting around the island, here is everything you need to plan your ideal vacation.
Getting to Know the Island
Our island is a culturally diverse nation, famously known for being shared by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and France. The Friendly Island, as it’s affectionately referred to, is home to lush accommodations, thrilling adventures, entertaining bars and casinos, and so much more.
Transportation
Regardless of which side of the island you are visiting, you’ll most likely begin your trip traveling into Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA). PJIA accepts flights from most major carriers from all across the globe, making it easy to arrive at the island regardless of where you are traveling from. Flying in from within the French Caribbean? Fly into L'Espérance Airport in Grand Case. Coming from one of our neighboring islands, St. Barts or Anguilla? Consider taking a local ferry to one of our smaller ports. Onboard a major cruise liner? Be sure to disembark at the Sint Maarten Harbor and head over to the island’s duty-free capital, Philipsburg.
Drive around the island in style! Take advantage of one of the many car rentals available on the island. Looking for a guide? You can book taxis or take guided tours around the island at a great price. Though the island does not have a public transportation system, the island is composed of privately-owned bus routes to many of the popular cities, including Philipsburg, Maho, Marigot, and more.
Yachting
St. Maarten is well known for being a major hub for marine vessels, whether it is cruisers or luxury yachts. St. Maarten is home to top-class marinas, provisioning companies, experienced yacht agents, and repair services. Our airport gateway connection makes St. Maarten the number one convenient location for docking and porting. Simpson Bay lagoon is a perfect place to explore all the island has to offer. Booking a boat charter? The island has many to choose from.
