Ratings & Reviews
The hotel staff are very accommodating. We ended up renting a car for a couple of days from a company which was recommended to us by one of the staff members. I'm always a bit apprehensive with these things, as I've heard many stories of people renting cars and than being overcharged...we had no problems. The hotel grounds are very nice. The atmosphere is also great. The bar area makes the best panini we've had and a great strawberry daiquiri. There are also a few restaurant with good food close by and a small store selling all the basics. Rooms were clean and we had a balcony where every morning we fed the iguanas with freshly made vegetable and fruit salad. My only con which perhaps I can't blame on the staff but I do wish we were warned about was the theft on the Island. All we kept hearing is how safe the Island is from everyone. Hearing this daily made us less cautious than we normally are. We left our belonging in the car for no longer than 5 minutes to take a couple of pictures on the Island. The area seemed completely empty but of course we did lock the car and hid our stuff. When we came back, my bag, our cell phones (with all our pics and videos) and my wallet were all gone. Only than we found out that this happens a lot on the Island.
Me and my husband checked into the resort on Saturday Sept.2,2017.we had the best experience ,had nice and clean with beautiful room # 3302 with the view of the ocean. Staffs was nice ,clean the room and replace a towels everyday. On Tuesday Sept 5.,we had to moved to another room # 1207 in another building to prepare for the Hurricane which was explained by ANN MARIE that will be the safer room. By 02 AM on Wednesday Sept. 6,was woke up by a phone call from staff that the Hurricane is approaching to the building and suggested to move to the restaurant area for safety.we stayed there until 11 AM. All these time ANN MARIE and staffs made sure that we all comfortable and safe .After that we all had hot meals everyday and drinking water ,juices available even we had open bar for all drinks. Even we did not have electricity ,and air condition. We would like to praise ANN MARIE and all staffs at OBBR for hard work they did until we left on Saturday Sept.9. GOD BLESS you all. and hope you all safe from JOSE. From JUREERAT and SAVET SVETASOBHANA,California
Very friendly resort and, in fact, the entire island! My husband and I enjoyed being away from the busyness of the city but close to restaurants. Our room was freshened twice and restocked with the things we needed.
St Maarten is so beautiful because of the hills with lush vegetation and the colorful houses on the hillsides. It is a great feature that the resort has a shuttle to pick you up from the airport for only $10.00 each. During the drive from the airport to the resort we fell in love with the island just based on the view. Once at Oyster Bay we saw the registration area, the bar and the pool areas were all very lovely. The pool area hangs over the ocean which is a fabulous view. We loved the beauty of these areas. It was really great that Oyster Bay had many planned activities, some included and some had an extra charge. Of all the timeshares we have gone to, Oyster Bay had the most planned activities, all option of course. There was a happy hour every day with some free cocktails and every day there were some two for one cocktails. Also, they provided a hop on shuttle every day; for $15 each they drove you to a set location for drop off and later pick up. This was a convenience. The most fabulous part of our stay was our room; it was a 10! The resort is a garden style where your front door opens to the outside; this gives you total privacy. We had a newly renovated studio room which was large, with a full refrigerator, a cook top, and a full set of dishes and pots and pans. It was far more than what other resorts define as a studio. Best of all, it had a deck directly hanging over the Marina We looked out at the boats docked there, the water and the colorful houses dotting the hillside. The view was something from a movie. As a mature couple we were thrilled to spend hours sitting on the deck looking at the boats come in and out of the marina. . Younger people won't care about room location because they will be out all day enjoying the outside, but the room location was so perfect for us as mature folks who spent some time in the room. Thanks Oyster Bay. The bad parts; there is a beach here but it is unusable because seaweed covers the beech and covers the water near the beach giving off the bad seaweed smell. It is a great disadvantage to not have a beach on site, but I still rated it a 5 because the other aspects make up for this. The seaweed is an oceanic condition and there is nothing Oyster Bay can do about it. We found out it comes and goes with ocean conditions so it may or may not be a problem later. But there are many other beautiful beaches that we wanted to visit anyway and the Oyster Bay shuttle or a taxi can take you there. We did not rent a car although many people do and you can rent right at Oyster Bay. It is not necessary to have a car because cabs are always at the resort if you want to go out. Another bad thing the salespeople trying to sell you a timeshare; I hate that part. a good thing is that there are two beautiful restaurants on site. We ate breakfast at the Infinity Restaurant twice and didn't care for the food. I think it was just the difference in the local meats. There is a wonderful little grocery store right outside the gate that sells everything we needed for breakfast and has wonderful fresh baked good including croissants. In addition to the two restaurants at Oyster Bay, right outside the gate there are 4 more restaurants. We ate at each one of them and they are wonderful. We were most interested in the ambiance and experience of the restaurants, more than the food. The two upscale restaurants were lovely with the outside/inside seating. Then there is a pizza place and a rotisserie chicken place which are inexpensive and good. Many days we went out to the French side or into the other towns to explore further, to shop and to eat at other restaurants, but Oyster Bay alone is fabulous and we could have stayed there all 7 days, except for the lack of a usable beach.
The room was dirty and had not been cleaned. The bed had dirty sheets. Everybody makes mistakes but the staff was then rude about the matter. They cleaned the room but did not leave us any towels. The stay went down hill from there. Ended up checking out early and found a cheaper, nicer and cleaner hotel.
