The hotel is situated on a historical location, Fort Amsterdam where Peter Stuyvesand battled the Spanish troops is on the premises. The beach is protected behind a bluff so the water is always calm safe for swimming. The restaurants are good, entertainment is lively and divers. They are participating in the worldwide Blue Flag program which means they are very environmental end ecological consious. The hotel is at walking distance from Philipsburg for shopping
To be fair we arrived at the resort for a 3 night stay after 5 nights at the Four Seasons in Anguilla. It would be difficult to compare the accommodations. We did an all inclusive option for our stay and I think it was worth the money. We had an efficiency on top of the hill overlooking the beach area and bay. The room was really nice and well appointed. The view from the balcony was beautiful. There is also an infinity edge pool on the hillside which we loved. At the very top of the hill is Fort Amsterdam, a historic site. It is really quiet with views of downtown Philipsburg and the Cruise Ship port. A great place to hear the horn and watch the ships depart. The food was good at the resort. Gizmo's has live music great pizza and drinks and a great place to relax. Depending on what your definition of "all-inclusive" is there are a couple of things you should know. It does not include Top Shelf liquors and there is a $10 up charge for filet and lobster in the restaurant. Also for us a downside is that you have to wear wrist bands. I'm not really sure why since you also get a check to sign with each food and beverage purchase so it could be taken care of on the back end. All in all we liked Divi and will probably return.
I am so happy that my home away from home is very near the infinity pool and hot tub! Nothing is more relaxing at the end of a day, or week, of shopping, dancing, and dining on both the Dutch and French sides of this picture perfect friendly Caribeean vacation paradise, then to just let all your cares float away under the warm waterfall of this intimate pool. You must try it to believe it. I can't wait to come back in September!!
We cruise fairly often and have visited all the touristy sights of interest to us in St. Maarten. We have started doing resort Day Passes there, and I love spending my time on the beach; my travel partner loves to snorkel from the beach. We don't think we could have found a better place to spend a day than Divi Little Bay Resort. There is no fee for a Day Pass. We almost hate to call attention to it, but it's too good not to share. The beach is lovely and kept clean, there are plenty of chairs and umbrellas to rent, the beach bar is well-stocked, the beach restaurant food is excellent, restrooms are available, staff is friendly, and snorkeling wonderful from shore. There were a few offers from vendors, but a smile and "No thank you" was all that was necessary. After several different cruise days there, we really want to plan a vacation and go stay for a week.
Although we only stayed for two nights, we were totally satisfied with our upgrade deluxe one bedroom, the beach, the pool, the food and entertainment. The drinks were icy cold, the service was friendly and the parrot very colourful! The bonus was the short walk to the Fort at the top of the hill. Lovely view and good sense of the history.
