We are staying at the Divi currently in a time share unit. First I would say the location is great in that it is close to phillipsburg and the cleaning staff is pleasant The staff at the well stocked grocery store is good as well Unfortunately that is were my complementary comments have to stop The accommodations are quite substandard to other timeshares we have been at( we are timeshare owners but not with this group). The bed is decent and the kitchen is nice I am a contractor by trade and the bulging walls in all areas show water damage. The shower is nasty and the bathroom needs a entire 'gut job' The staff in general are indifferent at best. Twice we have waited for 15 min plus and not even got a menu at on site restaurants Hence our hikes into town ! The pools onsite are a bit of a joke. I have put bigger pools in people's back yards and I come from a climate where they get use at best 4 months of the year. I was expecting much more. The weather is warm at least and the cats are a joy to be around . Four days left!!.....to be continued
I want to start off by saying I had read countless reviews before planning this trip and asked any person I could find with information about St. Maarten- where to stay and what to do and could not have expected what we experienced even with doing all that research. This was an amazing family trip and I am so glad we decided to stay at the Divi Little Bay. I chose Divi Little Bay because I asked many people who choose to visit St. Maarten over and over again where to stay and Divi Little Bay was always the place I was recommended. When we first arrived at St. Maarten which was only 3 1/2 hours away from JFK- the plane arrived 30 minutes early what a great way to start your vacation-we took a shuttle transfer from Juliana airport and I have to say I got a little worried by the area around the airport because there were many casinos and it did look a little rundown. But as we continued our drive towards Divi Little Bay the scenery changed and finally when you come up to Divi Little Bay you see the terra cotta rooftops of the resort and the water of the Great Bay and Little Bay shining in the sun and you can see you are going to a beautiful place. When we arrived we checked in at their outdoor lobby and there was lemon water and everyone was friendly and professional from the start. We were shown to our rooms by Darren who went out of his way to escort us even though he works the front desk. We were given two rooms that were not adjoining but this was an error apparently on our travel agents part and Darren arranged for us to have a one bedroom suite that fit us all comfortably the next day. This was very important to us since of course we want to be together on a family vacation. The rooms were clean and spacious and the beds comfortable. We went straight to the beach that day. We had dinner at Pure Ocean that night and were entertained by a great reggae band at night. We ate breakfast every morning there and children were free with each paying adult. We had two dinners at Pure Ocean one night was Indian food and the other night Latin. It was buffet style with attentive service. We loved using Divi Little Bay as a home away from home as well because we spent many days exploring the island and loved coming home to the warm people there. We had our hair braided at Divi by Yvonne who was such a lovely lady. The second night we ate at Ocean 82 in Grand Case and discovered we felt like we had traveled to Europe with change in scenery and little restaurants and narrow streets. The third day we ventured out to the Butterfly Farm and La Galion beach on the French side. The children loved the butterflies and the shallow beach at La Galion. The beach shack was authentic french style service and it was fun to feel like we were in another country just driving to the other side of the island. The next morning we took the ferry from Marigot to Anguilla and were driven to Blanchard Beach first which was a little too wavy for the children so we were driven to Cap Juluca on Meads Bay. It was absolutely gorgeous. We continued onto Grand Case that evening after arriving back at Marigot which is already on the french side to eat at Lolo's which is the bbq style eating, very inexpensive but recommended by all that visit St. Maarten as an experience you should have and we did enjoy it. Our taxi driver was Vincent of Car 337 he was such a gentle man and told us all about the island we would ask for him whenever he was available and he was always patient with us even with 3 small children. We spent the next day after Anguilla recuperating and relaxing at Divi Little Bay and enjoying meeting many nice people from the Boston and other areas that all said they've been coming to Divi for years some 15 some or more. The two older children went snorkeling at Divi just off the beach. They took a paddle boat to where there is a sunken helicopter and really enjoy the onsite snorkeling. There is lots of equipment available for rental there many people were scuba diving as well. We also went to Philipsburg that morning to shop we went to front street and the market behind the courthouse and then walked down backstreet loud crazy beach boardwalk to have our first coconut water. The man cut it with a machete and put a straw in it children were impressed. We had lunch at Caribbean Blend very authentic delicious food also bbq. That night we ate at Skip Jacks and picked our own caribbean lobsters. We had icecream at Carosel in Simpson Bay. The last day we went to Pinel Island. We stayed there first took a hike saw many hermit crabs, lizards and iguanas walking around the children loved it. It's an uninhabited island no houses-nothing but a restaurant and dock and chairs and umbrellas. We spent the rest of the day there on the beach and the children saw a few topless women but it was all in the spirit of being on the french side. We went back to Divi where our bags were in storage changed for the airport and went home. It was a trip of a lifetime because we felt not only did we enjoy ourselves relaxing, eating, swimming, lounging but we also felt we got a taste of the culture and people and nature of the island. We were able to navigate the island and visit neighboring islands freely and like I said before Divi was the place we called home while staying in St. Maarten and always felt happy to go back there after a long day of exploring or to spend the day snorkeling and swimming or sunning.
Well executed check in and concierge Sophia insightful as well as the bellman They placed us in well situated room 501 close to beach pool shops etc Room was clean spacious 1 and 1 1/2 bath good for 4 people They had water sports although jet skis were booked we took out sail boat and snorkeling nice gear ok They had beach service near gizmo Daily night entertainment Nice prime rib buffet sat night On sight rent a car Missed pool table ping pong Everything great gizmo bartenders could be friendlier but that would not stop me from going back Island so diverse fun people are nice lots to do and would consider returning to divi
The Divi Little is in a class of its own. Starting from the front desk, to the bellmen, room shuttle drivers, cleaning staff and restaurant people, everyone is pleasant and smiling and contributing to a great stay!! The rooms are beautiful, clean, modern but still having an authentic tropical island feel. Our unit was the ground floor of a 2 level. It had a full kitchen, fully stocked. A dining room, a large beautifully furnished living room with a sleeper pull out couch and 2 sets of glass doors opening to a large patio with a gorgeous bay view. The master bedroom is huge with a full bath and also a full bath in the hall. The view is beautiful. The beach staff great and a nice beach, with chairs and umbrellas always available! Three pools, a great bar and fun times!
Room kept niceley clean every day. Maintenance issues not taking care of, not even after a few request! All inclusive as advertised on the web site not as all inclusive in practice; for example No a la carte in the main restaurant in the evening. Perfect location, nice and calm Ocean for swimming with direct access from your room. Limited space at the Sea Breeze restaurant. Very friendly staff.
