We have stayed at this older timeshare a couple of times before, and this was our third. My in-laws have been staying here every summer for 30 years, and they really enjoy it. The accommodations are all apartment style, and while dated (think pink 80s, rattan, etc), they are very clean and well air conditioned. They all have exterior entrances on the street side, and balconies with pool and ocean views. The kitchen had a full refrigerator, oven, stovetop, microwave, and dish washer. It was loaded with dishes, silverware, pots and pans, etc. it was ready to go. There is a very nice little grocery store across the street! We could stock up on some essentials and have a place to save a little money/waistline. This island is kind of expense, especially if you have children who are picky. Throwing some cereal and peanut butter sandwiches at them saved not only dinero, but the restaurant argument of "just try it" for a $20 plate you end up eating yourself. :) Our unit also had an open living room with a pull out sofa, flat screen tv (with dish and local NYC stations), a dining table and extra dressers. It had two bedrooms, both with full bathrooms. It also had a quarter bath open to the living room. One bedroom had a king bed with tv and a large dresser and closet with programmable safe. The other was the same, but with twin queens. We had 4 people, but more could have stayed here. All tile, and it had a dehumidifier that you had to empty yourself every 10 hours or so. Nobody told us about this, but once we figured it out, it really mad a difference. The resort itself had an awesome pool, 5' deep throughout. It also had a nice beach with clear water. There were abundant chairs and shade, and showers. They had foot baths from ocean to pool to reduce sand. Very family friendly. There was an attached beach side restaurant that had breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the resort had activities from it (such as bingo, or bands). The food was decent to good, and they had a full bar. I had pretty good espresso in the AM, and a tasty virgin pina colada. The drinkers seemed very satisfied with the offerings. Close by (as in walking distance) is a full little entertainment district with several restaurants, shops and a casino. We really like Cheri's Cafe, a local attractions. Very clean and it felt safe. A potential downside for travelers could be the noise! It sits right next to the Princess Juliana Airport, and both small and large planes land and depart. However, watching these planes hover right over you in the ocean is quite the experience. We thought it was awesome, and so do many of the visitors. Check out YouTube videos to see if it might bother you. There were also a couple of night clubs in the area that you could hear at night. They didn't bother me, but if I woke up at night, I could hear the bass and drums. All in all, it was a great place and I am sure we will return. Family friendly with lots of actively and a great place to base yourself while you explore the island. For reference, we rented a car and also spends days at Orient Beach, sailing and snorkeling at Tintamarre, kayaking and snorkeling at Pinal Island, shopping in Phillipsburg and eating at Lolo's in Grand Case. Maybe more reviews on these activities later.
We spent one week here on a timeshare exchange. We have stayed at this location one other time in the past. This resort is an older style but has been well cared for. The garden and pool areas are beautiful. The on-site restaurant is adequate. There are many very nice dining options on St. Martin so we only used the pool bar for happy hour. There are beach chairs and umbrellas available for free although there is no beach service for the bar. The bathroom was out dated but functional. The location is VERY near the airport so if that is bothersome to you, you should stay somewhere else. We enjoyed watching the planes come in and go out. The noise inside the room was really minimal. Great ocean views from the balcony. Wifi was $50/week and the signal was strong. Parking is available for a small weekly fee across the street at the sister resort. We liked staying here and plan to return.
We are in our 60's and just got remarried. A friend of mine let us use his timeshare here. At first we had a room on the second floor and we didn't have a clear view of the ocean. But we went and asked them at the desk and they moved us up to a higher floor and we had a great view of both the ocean and the pool. The employs were very friendly and helpful. It was fun to sit on the balcony and watch the plains land. the place is so well insulated that you don't hear them unless you have the door open. Great time.
Has a two bedroom lock off, was very roomy and decorated nicely. The view from our balcony was an ocean/pool view, very pretty. Lush plants and beautiful flowers. David the activity guy was great. His walks were fun and educational. It was neat to watch the planes land and take off. It you want a quiet place this isn't one you would like. The restaurant on the grounds was nice and had a good choice of food and drinks. The beach is right off the resort, you can get chairs and umbrellas free of charge. It's an older resort but fairly well kept up and clean. You do have to pay for Wi-Fi. Although there were several restaurants and bars with free Wi-Fi. I also find the bed to be a bit too soft for me.
Checked in yesterday. Big beautiful room, back door opens to short path to pool, Kitchen very well equipped. It is next to the airport, so do expect plane noise. I feel those who complain about it should not. What do you expect when you book a resort right next to the airport. Pool is beautiful and grounds kept up well. Great location right downtown. You do have to pay for parking, $30 for a week, not bad when compared to New York hotels. We paid $50 for two hours in NY to see a Broadway show. Internet is $60 for a week, again not bad compared to other places. Furniture is a little dated, but in excellent shape. Air conditioning works great. Staff very friendly and helpful and check in was very easy. We travel quite a bit, and are Disney Vacation Club members.
