A well kept older building, room area clean, decent size for a one bedroom. Balcony overlooked the nicely manicured garden and pool area, ocean view just slightly beyond. An airport from a very busy airport is just 300 yards away. 20 small planes fly in daily. about 6 huge plans fly in daily. Departures of plans also. When the large jets leave, building vibrates, and noise is unreal, the blast from the engine throws its fumes out to be inhaled by me. So in between the planes the sounds of the ocean can be heard. At night, now comes the street noises, minor muffling is had, but, honks and gearing up and down as cars/trucks roll over the bump is continual, so sleep was difficult. We had a dehumidifier in the room, making noise, no one informed us that it needed to be emptied. Front desk average in efficiency, one staff thought the connected restaurant was under construction, no suggestions for walking distance restaurant, went across the street to the "high" end hotel, got my answers. the check in/out process went well. The bottom sheet of the bed needs to be a fitted sheet. If you want quiet, and sleep, this is not the place. On the other hand, we rented a car and had our list of things to do/see, spent our time exploring the island, that was nice. Had armed myself with some trip advisor restaurants further away to visit. The traffic is interesting, people are polite with driving, lots of cars, seems to be the norm.

Good for lunch

This place has a restaurant near their pool that is good. It's a good choice to get away from hectic Maho Beach and have a nice lunch. The food and service were very nice, and it's a good place to watch the airplanes go over the beach. The only downside is there is no WiFi.

Short Stay

I stayed at the Royal Islander for a short stay for the last 5 days of Carnival, as I usually stay at Simpson. It is located 5 minutes from the airport so if noise is a problem for you don't stay here because you can hear the planes loud and clear both landing and takeoff. The place is clean with friendly service and there are plenty of restaurants in the Maho area. Their beach is a public beach so you get many folks not staying at the resort but there is plenty of seating. I think the room was updated recently as the kitchen looks modern. The lobby bar has a 2 for 1 happy hour but don't ask for any specialized drinks because the nice bartender doesn't know any! The bus stops right outside the resort which is convenient. I would stay again for a short visit but I prefer more luxurious accommodations.

Club la Plage Has It All

We visited this hotel in February! We've been here many times and when we return it's just as beautiful. The hotel is located in Maho. It has a large pool and restaurant/ bar and the beach is steps below. From your seat at the pool, you can watch planes arriving and landing! This is not a noisy thing , but a fun experience as they come down low over the bar!!. The rooms are done with a tropical flare. There is a large room with kitchen and table area and a pull out couch and TV opening to a large deck/patio. We always get the one bedroom which has a large king size bed tv and closet with lots of space. The bathroom is in the hallway with another closet. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cookware, microwave and dishwasher and coffeemaker and toaster oven. There is a supermarket right across the street for soda, liqupr, breakfast lunch and almost anything else and is reasonable. The Casino is across the way as well as Cheris and a French Italian Chinese and other restaurants as well as a few stores. So you don't need a car to eat out. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pool has several activities as well as water aerobics bingo and happy hour at the bar. A cab ride or bus will take you to Philipsburg for major shopping . Throoms are always clean and staff comes once a day. The furnishings are perfect and the view perfect!

I have owned here for years.

We upgraded and bought 2 more weeks. I love this place. We have made so many friends here and return every year for the last 25 years, Staff are excellent from front desk to maintenance and security. We own in weeks 14, 15, and 16. Everything is convenient from dining, shopping, and casino.
