We were able to trade our timeshare to come here with Interval International, and we enjoyed our week at the beach. The resort is central to everything in the Maho district, and after a couple of days you get used to all the airplane noise. Our unit was one bedroom with a garden-level terrace, which was more than adequate for our family of three. The property is immaculate and very safe, with a few resident cats to manage any lizard/rodent problem. The kitchen appliances were newly updated, although most everything ran on one circuit breaker which frequently tripped when we attempted to make breakfast. The bathroom has mostly been untouched since the 80s but was functional. The front desk staff was a mixed bag of helpful and indifferent staff, but the activities desk concierge was very helpful with booking excursions around the island. It was fun for the little kids to have a separate kiddie pool and main pool, and the beach bar was perfect for the adults along with an extended happy hour which continued in the lobby bar into the early evening. Not sure whether there's been a lot of recent beach erosion, but there's almost no sandy beach to speak of at the bottom of the sea wall display signs everywhere commenting about chairs and umbrellas. Not that it's necessary anyways, because it's a 50-yard walk to Maho Beach and there is a constructed sandy beach around the pool area well above the shoreline. We rented a car and were able to park using the underground garage at the sister property across the street. Although it took a couple of minutes to get to the car each time, it was helpful for keeping the car clean and secure (although I wouldn't recommend renting an SUV or large vehicle to try to squeeze into this garage). We only had to handle one brief phone call soliciting a timeshare purchase, so definitely one of the most low-key resort we stayed at. Probably would stay again if we have the opportunity, although I think I'd like to consider someplace farther from the airport next time.
Took the daughters here for daughters 40th birthday. The travel girl at the desk was great. Planned 3 trips around island. First cab ride around island and stopped in Margot for lunch. Did snuba diving which the group enjoyed. Also went snorkeling on the Red Baron with the trurtles. Ate on boat. The food was excellent, all freshly made even grilled chicken and pork made on boat. Emir at the desk planned it all ride to destination and back.
We stayed in the penthouse. It's 3 bedrooms 3.5 bathrooms. All rooms here have beautiful views. We loved watching planes come in from our porch! Two things that need improvement. The pool is ice cold (although beautiful and new), the hot tub is lacking (it's seems like residential 4 person). The other negative are the rooms need major updating, they are clean and great layout but they could use a facelift. I would come back again! What a great spot.
We exchanged here as we wanted a last minute and this resort was available. We actually own a couple weeks on the island at another RCI resort. Of course, we are comparing the resort to ours.... Firstly we got a basement room or I guess here, they call them ground level .... And we look out onto an over grown garden with many cats who visit us daily. The ground floor unit is very musty with no view and we have to run the humidifier 24/7 and empty it 3 times per day. The location is good as it is close to may restaurants and the beach is good. The noise from the planes is pretty constant throughout the day, but I think eventually you tune it out! A lot of extras here, such as your wifi which is $50 US per week which is craziness.....most RCI places have no fee. Also parking is $5 per day as there is no where to park .....only the garage accross the street. When we checked in we requested not to be on the ground floor as we have been robbed on another island on the ground floor level. Worst place to be....... We were told they were all full. While here, we spoke with some time share owners and they agreed that any timeshare exchange always got the worst units..... Which of course are ground floor! Do not exchange here if you are looking for a view! There are many RCI places here on the island ........... Keep looking as there are better deals with an actual view!
You just can't beat the location of this timeshare property. If you like to people watch and the airplanes it's perfect. If you want more solitude then I would look elsewhere. So much within walking distance and the market right across the street make it so you never really have to leave the area unless you want to, and you can easily rent a car right on property.
