I found the staff to be excellent, in the hotel, and quick to respond. I stayed in the room with the Kingsized bed and found it comfortable, lovely little kitchenette, and clean. Loved it! Small table and chair outside the room to sit at, if desired. The shower was more of a good dribble than a spray although sufficient. Soap dish should be cleaned and the rack to hold shampoos should be removed altogether or replaced. Other than that - no complaints that should ever prevent anyone from staying here. A very small pool but perfect for cooling off, lovely temperature and kept clean. Beach was beautiful, good lounge chairs, very sandy, and getting a beverage from the beach area was easily accessible. A bit of a walk to the main road for buses; not something I'd feel comfortable doing alone at night so didn't go out. Nothing within walking distance to do in the evenings so you either need a car or a cab. Van/bus service on main road was good. If you walk to the main road, you can bus to the airport although the $10 cab ride is worth it.
We spent the day here after a cruise while waiting for a late flight. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and taken care of. We were provided with shade and chairs and full use (other than the pool) of the facilities. This was all for free!! The staff was incredibly friendly. We had lunch at the restaurant. Mahi mahi was delicious. When it was time to go to they airport they arranged for a taxi. What a great way to end our holiday!
Hotel lobby and staff were nice. Unfortunately our room was in the basement with no view nor water pressure. The room was like a dungeon which is the last thing you want as your first impression of the Caribbean. Had dinner at hotel that evening which was sub par. Started with duck appetizer and after that decided not to order an entree. Asked for bread which was a store bought and not good. Also didn't have several entrees that were on menu nor wine that was on menu. Again all staff were very nice.
Dated for certain with a very strange layout- as if the complex perhaps used to be condos that they've chopped up into hotel rooms? Within our suite were two different doors leading to other suites. The airplane noise was worse than anticipated despite some reviewers saying it wasn't that bad. When you're four time zones behind, the 7am flights come awful early. I think I was more grossed out by the hair in the drain (not ours!) than the cockroach I encountered in another rental this trip. Wouldn't book again.
The restaurant at Mary's Boon has a most excellent ambiance while overlooking the ocean. The food is above average and the service is very good. A very pleasant spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Some evenings they provide excellent music.
