Location - Location - Location....that is affordable. Every unit is beachfront on one of the prettiest beach in the world. This was my third stay at the Villas - my last in 1998 - I was a bit nervous that it would not be the same but ... it was, and better!! We arrived to cold water, beer & soda in the fridge!! Units: are ocean front - pretty & spotless. Caribbean flair with lots of color and pretty art. The kitchen was very well equipped - we had all we needed for breakfast and lunch - we chose to eat out each night. The owners have upgraded the units brilliantly - the open center atriums have been covered and air-conditioning added to the main living area. It was very welcomed not for the temperatures but the mosquitos at night (they were vicious) and we could close up the unit. Cars: were pre-booked by the owners with Thrifty rental - very easy and convenient. The cars are rough - but it is the Caribbean... Beds-a bit on the firm side, I don't mind this but, was rough on two of my companions with back issues. Pillows- I'm tough to please when it comes to pillows - I did not find them comfortable. My husband felt they were fine. Water pressure - devine!! All spotless. Booking: very very easy by email with the owners of the units. The staff: were warm welcoming and engaging. Joan and her crew took very very good care of our unit. She was cheerful and we appreciated her hard work. Marvlyn, was welcoming, got us all checked in quickly and also helped set up our boat excursion to Anguilla. The grounds keepers-keep the area absolutely beautiful. Security walks the periphery all night long and it is a gated community - feels very secure. We did follow their recommendations to lock up all valuables and the unit when we were away. The planes - we love them. We are plane watchers and the best viewing is at poolside. The bigger the better as we watch them climb up over the mountain. The first take off in the morning is at 7:10am - we are early risers and were up long prior to that departure - the last loud take off was at about 9pm. They were added entertainment for us and not at all a nuisance. This is a private, well maintained property on a fabulous beach - we will be back!!
Recently my husband and I spent 3 weeks at the very private Beachside Villas. This was our 3rd time staying there. Marvlin and all of the staff are excellent. There is night time security walking the beach and there is daily maid service, maintenance always available, and they will even have a rental car waiting for you at your villa if you book it. The place is a short ride from the airport, through the narrow strip of Maho Beach. The villas are older, but nicely furnished with air-conditioning in the bedrooms, wifi, full kitchen, as well as a gas grill in your little inside/outside foyer. As a bonus, there is always cold beer, soda and water waiting in the fridge. Each villa has a deck with lounge chairs in the shade, outside shower and table and chairs, as well as lounges out on the private beach in front of your villa. You can enjoy an ocean view from the living room and master bedroom. There are always huge yachts to see docked out in the water and the pelicans fly by constantly. The best part is the beach. There are no other people sitting in front of you, only you! If the villa next to you is occupied, there may be other people in front of their place, but that's it except for the beach walkers. You can get a nice walk in from the villas all at the way down to the Pelican resort, and pass Mary's Boon and Karikters on the way. The resort has a pool, and also a lot of pool toys like noodles and tubes and even coolers available to use in the pool shed. Don't waste your money buying any of these things, just borrow from the shed. We used a cooler every day we drove to a different beach. Beach towels and daily linen are provided as well. If you choose not to rent a car, you can walk to a lot of places in Maho, including Maho beach where the planes fly over your head, a market right at the rotary, and many restaurants and 2 casinos along the main roads. If you have a car, drive to Mullet Bay beach for a day and watch the sun set, shop in Marigot or Phillipsburg and of course have dinner in Grand Case on the French side.Things to bring: Coffee, round coffee filters, salt and pepper, sugar, and any snacks you can carry in a small carry on. Sometimes salt and pepper and filters are left over in your villa, but you can't count on it. We brought a huge bag full of cheese, crackers, breakfast cereal, chips and other snacks. Things are very expensive in St. Martin grocery stores. The only real downfall are the planes. Since the resort is right parallel to the runways, the planes can be very loud at times, but take off quickly. They are the worst taking off and landing from about 6-8am. Also, stick to bottled water while on the island.
For years, my family and I have vacationed at various spots (all inclusives, cruises, etc...) in the Caribbean. A couple of years back we tried Beachside Villas and we've been going ever since. It has, hands down, the best beach we've ever seen and it's private! The Mascarin family who owns & operates this gated resort is extremely hospitable and the staff who have been there for years are known by all the guests. It's minutes from everything and has its own unobstructed viewing area to watch the exciting airplane take off & landings. We'll be back next year (just like many of the other returning guests) to enjoy the newly renovated villas.
This is THE place if you seek sun, ocean, and top notch accommodations Friendly staff and the beach is world class. We hope to return next year thanks to our generous hosts.. JW and MW. We had an issue with the oven, and not 10 minutes after reporting the problem, maintenance wheeled in a brand new oven and we were able to cook in minutes. Now thats what I call service!
We went with another couple who had been here before 18 years ago on their honeymoon. It was a perfect place to relax. Getting up and looking out at the beach and ocean each morning was amazing. It was mostly a quiet beach with great boat watching. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It's right next to the airport; but you really don't notice after the first day. We walked to Sunset Beach each night for HH and stopped at Taco Macho for dinner twice. But we mostly ate in; the kitchen was stocked pretty well and was perfect for 2 couples!
