The friendliest and cleanest resort

We were 3 couples who stayed 10 days and had a wonderful time . The rooms , with king beds were perfect and the food was superior to most resorts .The staff were all so friendly and attentive . The beach and pools have many choices of chairs and umbrellas at any hour of the day ; the water is clear and sandy at the bottom but a little difficult to get in and out of water because of streep drop at waters edge but once in , you can float for hours. An easy walk into the town of Philipsburg , where there is lots of shopping.

A Very Good Resort in a Great Location

We spent four nights at the Sonesta Great Bay. Arrived from the airport (about 25 minute ride) at around 4PM. We were greeted with champagne, and the check in wait was about 5 minutes. Our room was ready, a king size bed on the 6th floor, looking out at the island, not the water. We were shown to our room by Thomas, who was very helpful throughout the trip. The room was fairly simply attired. Flat screen TV, a mini-fridge stocked with 2 coors light, 2 cooks, 2 diet cokes, 2 presidente beers. We also had a bottle of vodka and a bottle of coconut rum for the room. The balcony had 2 chairs and a small table, and was ample size. We were not thrilled not to be facing the water, but the view from the 6th floor was actually very nice and relaxing. The room stayed fairly cool with the AC. The king size bed WAS very comfortable and really slept well. Our room, 630 was at the very end of a long hall, but was very quiet. The food as the resort was VERY good. We have stayed at many all-inclusive's in the Caribbean, and this one is near the top as far as food goes, both at buffets and the restaurant. Especially good was the seafood at the restaurant. The servers were ALL very polite and friendly, Just a wonderful staff here at the hotel. The hotel as two pools. The pool closest to the hotel seemed odd to me. The walls are very steep, and you cannot just lounge on the side while in the pool. However, the 2nd pool, just a few steps away, is an infinity edged pool, with a swim up bar. This pool I really enjoyed, and seems to be where most folks go and set up for the day. Then below the pool is the beach. There was plenty of beach with chairs and umbrellas. The beach itself is very nice, and the swim area is roped off to ensure you dont go out too deep. What I really enjoyed at the hotel was the ability to walk into Philipsburg so easily from the beach. Just as you leave the resort toward the town, there is a sidewalk along the houses on the beach, making the 5 minute walk very easy. I enjoyed a morning walk here every morning, all the way around to the marinas on the other end of the bay. I highly recommend making the stroll. I big shout out to Jose at the Lobby Bar and to Kevin at the bar near the buffet, very friendly and helpful with really good pours. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Great spot !

We had 10 people on our trip , everyone had a Great time. Vicky was our first contact at the front desk , she was Wonderful , great smile. We all had different rooms , the rooms were very nice. The morning breakfast buffet was good , the lunch buffet was good , and the dinner buffet was not bad. The fine dining upstairs was okay , nice time to all sit together. The dinner on the patio was our least favorite , no lighting , having to finish cooking the unseasoned meat, fish wasn't the best option for the group. Over all the location and set up of the Resort was a plus. We enjoyed the stay and would go there again.

Adults Only Resort

We had an Ocean Front Room on the 6th Floor. The view was beautiful and well worth the extra money. The pool, beach and eateries were good. Unfortunately, upon arrival none of the rooms were ready even though check in was 3 p.m. we didn't get a room till 4:45 p.m. Lobby was packed with luggage and people. They advised to have lunch which is what we did. They wouldn't give a late check-out despite the late check-in.
