Do not go Here !

The first evening getting there there was no greeting of any kind .Got in the room there was nothing in the fridge no water ,pop nothing .I went to the desk and was told i would get something the next day LOL REALLY !! We got there two hrs late thanks to Delta and Delta lost our Luggage .I just wanted to sit in the room and have something cold to drink .The rooms are not as nice as the pictures .You have to make reservations for Dinner on a large Computer but was never told to .All of the Restaurants were booked for all 4 days we were staying so it was 4 days of buffet .The buffet had terrible food and no air conditioning .We went to there sister resort the next day and it looked much nicer so they let us transfer there .Was a much better resort but still could not get into the Restaurants.So we ate Buffet food for three days .If you want a good vacation go somewhere else would not recommend .

Terrible place

Please save your hard earned money and spend elsewhere. I have never been in St.Maarten, so it is hard for me to compare to other resorts but this one is nowhere close to 4 stars. I have been in 4 stars in Cuba and Domenican Republic and they are definitely better and cheaper. Beach is not good, especially if you are with little kids. The main buffet chef is good and food is nice, nut very few choices even compared to Cuba. And no fruits.??? I stayed in room 465 with a terrible view and very noisy at night. There was nothing available pool view or ocean view as they are going through construction and no one tells you until you are faced with the unpleasant surprise. I will definitely not return in this resort.

Worst vacation ever!

Please do not waste your money on this resort. No air conditioning. Can't get into the restaurants. Staff is not helpful. Transferred to Sonesta Great Bay resort, which was amazing except for not being able to get into the restaurant's.

Recent Return Trip

Sonesta Maho is a nice resort. the grounds are well kept, the food was really good, and the island was a ton of fun. A few things they should consider, the buffet everyday was really good for adults, however I found the dinner selection for kids to be very limited. Pizza and fries every night, unless you were able to make reservations for the sport bar or the outdoor grill. The outdoor grill was AMAZING. The food was fantastic and the service was pretty good. Same with the sport bar, however a few times we tried to eat at the sport bar and it was closed, but when we inquired about it, we were told it was open so that was kinda unfortunate. I found the swim up bar and staff to be unfriendly, there were a few issues with the severe lack of service. I found the front desk to be less than helpful. We were robbed on one of our day trips and when we went to the front desk for advise and information they didnt seem to care one bit, their reply was go to the police on the french side. They never offered to call or help in anyway. I sent a letter to the hotel manager when I returned letting them know the issues we had and I was never given a response, I am also a travel agent and sent the email from my work and still no response. I found they lacked professionalism when dealing with customers. Especially since the island is 2 different countries, they basically left us to figure out things on our own. We spent an entire day trying to find a police station that had police in it and that was open. We received no help and because of that i was unable to make a claim to my insurance company. I would honestly say i am in no hurry to return, however, I would recommend the Great Bay!

Gives All-Inclusive A Bad Name

Awful experience. The check-in was at 3:00 we were there slightly earlier than anyone off of the plane. About 2:30 The ac wasn't working in the lobby. I had to wait for the room to get cleaned. I got to my room about 4:30. The room ac wasn't working either. Since I was traveling with my exhausted 19month old. I was livid. promised to fix by 7pm, nope, then lunch the next day, nope. I checked a bit after noon. There now, was no water. by that evening the ac seemed better and the water was mostly back on. Others at the resort had buckets handy just in case they had to flush as they still didn't have water to their toilets. The third day, air was much better. water was working properly. A little after lunch we up to the room for a break and the power was out. I don't know for how long exactly, it was back on about an hour later. There were no reservations available for any of the restaurants any of the nights. I attempted to get them on morning 1 of 5. So, for dinner, our only option was pizza or a buffet that was mediocre at best. The service at any of the restaurants were nearly non-existent. All of the bars and restaurants seemed to close at 9:00 and 9:30. There is no room service. It was even a hassle getting a towel. They give you a card to keep up with throughout your visit. Give the rental booth the card they give you a towel. 70% of the time they didn't have any clean towels. About 60% of the time only 2 of 3 elevators worked. The building is currently under construction. We had tile grout all over the deck. While in my room I got a piece of glass stuck in my foot . The 6th and 7th floor are gutted, there were tile saws going all throughout the day. The location is great, beach was great. We attended a wedding there, extremely wonderful. Though, it is my understanding the wedding planner had a lot to do with it. The website states the amenities at Great Bay are also available for guests at Maho Beach and vice versa. I was stopped by a security guard at the entrance to the Great Bay lobby and way not permitted to the lobby bar. After my visit(and throughout) I brought my experience to the front desk. Not one apology. The entire trip. Not one.
