Great Location

This is a perfect location to be in in Saint Martin. The hotel and Villas are very nice the pools are adequate the beach is very nice with two Beach restaurants to choose from. It is walking distance to over 25 bars and restaurants. The studio kitchenette that we had was fully equipped and the bed was super comfortable. My two complaints are, the space under the door allowed in a lot of light at night and that the towel booth was not located near the pool and often times closed. But overall I would highly recommend this hotel 2 friends and family.

Needs some customer service

Simpson Bay was recommended to us by a few of our friends that had stayed there in past years so maybe that is why our expectations were high. And if we just rated the accommodations I probably would have given it four stars but I have to be honest and say that we never felt welcomed by the staff during the week. Never once did the concierge welcome us and whenever we asked for information or directions, it felt like we were intruding. At the pool bar, pretty much the same. Never felt like anyone liked working there. As far as the accommodations, that was more than adequate other than when we got to our room, there was just sheets on our bed--no blanket or bedspread which had us perplexed. We really enjoyed the Island and based on the popularity of St. Maarten and the numerous places we can stay, we would like to give another hotel our business.

8 years and counting

So we rent the B Junior Suite from a couple who have a 6 week time share - they of course use the A master Suite. We are in the newest building. My husband and I have been coming and loving St. Martin for 8 yrs and this is our 7th year at Simpson Bay Resort and Marina. This property is beautifully situated - our terrace overlooks Simpson Bay. We have been here during the Heineken Regatta (very crowded and not recommended) but mostly come during Feb. to escape NYC winter and it is peaceful and weather perfect. This property is couple friendly ; family friendly; their are elderly folks and young married families and in between - we all seem to mix well. People from all over the USA come to stay here. The beach here is pleasant - I prefer waves which there rarely are; but it's still nice. They offer grassy palapyas to shield u from the sun; a beach bar and grill and silly afternoon entertainment as well as several pools. The amenities can be found on their web sight. The rooms themselves in 'my' building are lovely- we have a terrace and a small kitchenette to make coffee w a small fridge. Over the past year , Simpson has invested in improving the property by adding a boardwalk and an upscale Mexican restaurant. The restaurant has not gotten good reviews (La Patrona) and many r skeptical if it will last . I have not eaten there . There r too many awesome restaurants in the area to waste money at a place that folks r giving mediocre reviews and saying "too expensive". Anyway, overall , SBRand M is a fine place to stay. Don't expect the staff to move too quickly or the front desk to know what they're doing ; be patient and all will be ok. Housekeeping is good. My only complaint - they need to upgrade their mattresses and pillows. They r not bad but could be so much better.

Steer clear from this hotel

I was in St Maartin for one night and decided to book this hotle through Hotels.com. From the lobby you are really fooled regarding the actual condition of the property. My room was in what i call an unincorporated part of the hotel, i asked to change this room even if i had to pay more, the answer was this is all we have . Immediately I checked out paid a higher price and stayed at the Westin Oyster Bay. The Simpsons Bay hotel even refused to refund my money. Avoid this hotel at all cost

Sun & Sand in St. Maarten

We had a great room in the remodeled section facing beach. The remodeled units are great. There is nothing we would say needs improving. The staff is very helpful and always available to answer questions.
